‘Tehran not interfering in internal affairs of Bahrain’

TEHRAN, Jul. 27 (MNA) – Director General of International Affairs at the Parliament Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran does not interfere in the affairs of Bahrain but supports for democracy, freedom of expression and human rights in the region and Bahrain.

Responding to Bahrains’s recent act against the country’s prominant spiritual leader of Shia majority Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim, Amir-Abdollahian deemed it as a bold step.

“If the government of Bahrain takes no lessons from history and repeats its mistakes, it will undoubtedly suffer great losses,” he noted.

He said Bahrain's rulers instead of relying on strangers are better to consider their own people’s interests.

Amir-Abdollahian said that the only solution for Bahrain’s crisis is political, adding freedom of Sheikh Ali Salman from illegal detention and respect for Ayatollah Isa Qassim are necessary measures to reach a political solution in Bahrain.
